I have had two procedures done by Dr. Samra, rhinoplasty in 2000 and breast augmentation this year. There arent even words to describe how happy I am with every single thing about Dr. Samra and his office.
The highly-experienced surgeons and courteous staff at Samra Plastic Surgery are well known in and around Monmouth County for their top-quality care for face procedures such the neck lift. One of the main elements separating us from other practices is that we ensure each patient of ours is fully supported throughout the entire process from the neck lift consultation to the recovery.
Neck Lift Overview
The effects of aging do not discriminate, and signs of aging continuously march across our face and body whether we want it to or not. This is especially true for the tissue and skin around the neck. Many of our patients request the neck lift to rejuvenate and restore a youthful appearance around the entire neck region by surgically tightening the skin and removing excess tissue as needed. Incision lines are carefully hidden behind the ears and hairline.
The neck lift can often be the perfect compliment to other procedures like a facelift because nobody wants their neck to be a giveaway of their true age.
It’s not just aging that affects the appearance of your neck. Factors like weight gain, weight loss, stress, gravity, and genetics can all play a factor with the appearance of your neck. Fortunately, at Samra Plastic Surgery, a neck lift is a great way to restore and rejuvenate your youthful beauty and improve your self-esteem.
Am I a Good Candidate for a Neck Lift?
A neck lift may seem like a niche procedure designed to only address a very specific issue, but the results can bring about a tremendous number of aesthetic benefits and can address multiple aesthetic issues. Most patients range between the ages of 50-70 and are experiencing significant wrinkling or sagging around the neck and jaw region.
When it comes to the appearance of your neck, it’s important to think about how it relates to the lower portion of the face and jawline. At Samra Plastic Surgery, we emphasize balance and harmony with our results. If the neck skin begins to sag, it can impact the appearance of these areas of the face. An aging neck also detracts from the overall beauty of the face by drawing unwanted attention.
A neck lift can:
- Tighten the jawline
- Reduce the appearance of jowls
- Remove wrinkles on the neck
- Reduce the appearance of harsh vertical neck bands
- Eliminate a double chin
- Enhance the contours of the neck
The Neck-Lift Procedure
A neck lift is performed under general anesthesia at one of our plastic-surgery practices in the Monmouth and Middlesex county areas of New Jersey. A traditional neck lift is performed by making small incisions behind the ear to allow access to the underlying tissues of the neck. The placement of the incision is important, because it ensures that any post-surgical marks are well-hidden.
During the procedure, excess fat in the neck will be removed and the remaining fat will be resculpted so that the neck has a smooth and even appearance. Vertical neck bands will be be either trimmed, repositioned, or tightened in order to reduce their appearance.
Excess sagging skin will be excised, and the remaining skin will be tightly pulled around the neck to enhance the appearance of the neck contours and to give the neck a smoother and more youthful appearance.
Healing After a Neck Lift
A neck lift is a fairly intensive procedure, so it is important that you set aside the time to allow yourself to properly heal. You can expect to experience soreness, swelling, pain, and bruising during the first few days of your recovery. Medication can be provided to minimize discomfort.
A compression garment will need to be worn during the recovery period to aid with the healing process. You will also need to avoid strenuous activities for around four to six weeks. Walking is encouraged after the first few days of recovery, as it will help with the healing process.
